WHY MAGIC NETBALL CLUB?
If you are looking for a club to take your child's game play to the next level then Magic is the club for you. Our progress and results in our first six years demonstrate the elite coaching the players are provided with. Our players are making huge improvements week on week- this is due to their dedication and hard work, but also due to the specific coaching they receive. Our club is all about performing- this does not always mean winning (although that is great too!), but instead it's about putting out our best individual performances to create strong team performance. The players improve week on week due to the fact they use and apply their training into match play situations. We are also delighted to have achieved England Netball's Bronze CAPS Award in our first year. CAPS is England Netball's version of Sport England Club Mark, and clubs who achieve accreditation are demonstrating best practice across all areas: coaching and delivery, safeguarding, development of players and volunteers, and club progression planning.
WHERE AND WHEN IS TRAINING?
From September - March training moves indoors on weekday evenings at Warden Park Academy Haywards Heath, The K2 Crawley and Bohunt Horsham.
From April - July training is outdoors at Handcross Park School.
See poster on our home page for current training nights and times for this term.
Saturdays or Sundays- regional / leagues/ friendly games and tournaments.
HOW MUCH IS TRAINING AND MATCHES?
Players will be asked to pay training fees at the start of each term. This works out to approx £7.50-10 per week. Matches and tournaments will be paid for on a pay to play basis. Not all players will be selected to play in each match and therefore the fairest way is to charge these fees on the day of the match. Fees will be set and explained in our introduction pack.
ARE SQUADS SET FOR THE YEAR?
Players who are successful at trials will keep their place in their squad for the year (until the next year's trials). However if players are not abiding by our club code of contact or not attending training and matches to a high enough standard (minimum 80% attendance and 80% availability) then coaches will speak with players about their commitment levels and may be asked to give up their place. Magic Netball offers open trials for new players throughout the year. Girls will be invited to trial at a training session with the squad members. A trial may take place over 1 or 2 sessions.
HOW DOES MATCH SELECTION WORK?
For each match/ tournament, selection will be based on performance, attitude to training and work ethic. There is no minimum amount of game play for any player in the squad. Team selections are open to change every week.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO THE COACHES HAVE?
All coaches have achieved their UKCC Level 2 Coaching Qualification. Kiki, Izi and Amelia have gained many years experience coaching a range of ages. Within the past few years they have coached in the Netball South Regional and Development Leagues. Kiki was the Sussex County Satellite Coach for the 18-19 and 19-20. For he past 2 seasons (2022-2024), Amelia has been the Head Coach of Sussex County Development Squad. Therefore brings knowledge of the England Netball pathway back to our girls at Magic.
In the 20-21 season, both Izi and Kiki coached for Superleague Franchise London Pulse in their U17 Hubs. During the 21-22 season Kiki was the Head Coach at London Pulse Reigate U17 Hub and Head Coach for London Pulse U15 Futures Squad where she won a silver medal with her squad at the School Games. For the 2022-23 season Kiki was the U17 Head Coach at London Pulse, she WON the NPL Southern League and her squad came runners up at the NPL Tournament 2023. Kiki also continued coaching the London Pulse U15 squad and they were crowned National Academies Champions 2023!! This year Kiki has continued to extend her knowledge in her role as U17 London Pulse Head Coach - her squad finished as Runners Up in the Southern League and Runners Up at the 2024 NPL Tournament. All of this experience, Kiki brings back to the club in her role as Head Coach. This continues to further our coaching at Magic, in how we support our players to excel in the England Pathway. Supporting girls in playing competitive netball is our coaches passion.

IS THERE A SOCIAL SIDE OFF THE COURT?
OF COURSE! Kiki and Izi believe in the balance of working hard and having fun! To ensure the girls work as a cohesive team they need to bond on and off the court. Therefore netball socials are key! Whether it is going for a meal, karaoke, watching an international netball match, laser quest or an adventure day there will be plenty of fun to be had by all (including the coaches!) Work hard play hard really is the motto.
